Brothers and Sisters,
There is a pastor joke that says, “I quit my job almost every Monday.” Poor Sunday service attendance, criticism from the membership, a message that is not well received, these things can take a toll on most pastors, and make them want to quit. All of us cannot be a Jeremiah, a fearless prophet; however we all can learn from him. A burning message from the Lord himself, and a deep compassion for the lost will help us overcome every discouraging thoughts. The secret is to stay close to God in prayer, in fasting, and in the reading of the Bible. Preacher must hear from God.
3 Now Zedekiah king of Judah had imprisoned him there, saying, “Why do you prophesy as you do? You say, ‘This is what the Lord says: I am about to give this city into the hands of the king of Babylon, and he will capture it. 4 Zedekiah king of Judah will not escape the Babylonians but will certainly be given into the hands of the king of Babylon, and will speak with him face to face and see him with his own eyes. 5 He will take Zedekiah to Babylon, where he will remain until I deal with him, declares the Lord. If you fight against the Babylonians, you will not succeed.’” (32:3-5)
Please read Jeremiah 32 - 34.
May the Lord richly bless you!
