2 Corinthians 7 - 9

Brothers and Sisters,
3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. 4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. (2 Corinthians 10)
Ephesians 6:14-18 lists the full armor of God which allows the Christian to stand his ground against the devil's schemes. But fasting and prayer is the combination that destroys the adversary. Speaking of an evil spirit that kept on hurting a young boy, Jesus said to his disciples, "This kind can come out by nothing but prayer and fasting.” (Mark 9:29)
Every difficulty in life can be overcome by fasting and prayer. You don't have to wait until the difficulty comes to engage in fasting and prayer, every difficulty in life can be prevented by fasting and prayer.
