Psalm 3 - 5

Brothers and Sisters,

David said,  "Arise, Lord! Deliver me, my God! Strike all my enemies on the jaw; break the teeth of the wicked" (Ps 3:7). Is there a place for such prayer in the New Testament era? Can a Christian utter such prayer? David was a king and a soldier. He had responsibility for the safety and security of a whole nation.

I don't think an individual Christian could pray for the destruction of his enemy, the Lord Jesus tells us to pray for our enemies. But if that Christian man or woman  has the responsibility to safeguard the well-being of a society, he must do whatever is ethically and legally necessary to protect that society. David loved his son Absalom dearly, but as the leader of the nation of Israel, he had no choice but to seek out the defeat of his enemy.

Psalm 3 -5.

May the Lord richly bless you!
