The story of the man of God and the false prophet found in 1 Kings 13 is one of the most incomprehensible stories of the Bible. But, at least we learn a very important lesson from that story, "prophecies must be tested" (1 Thessalonians 5:20-21). We cannot accept blindly a prophet's words because he/she says, "the Lord told me".

¹⁸ The old prophet answered, “I too am a prophet, as you are. And an angel said to me by the word of the Lord: ‘Bring him back with you to your house so that he may eat bread and drink water.’” (But he was lying to him.) ¹⁹ So the man of God returned with him and ate and drank in his house. (1 Kings 13)
