Deuteronomy 23 - 25

Brothers and Sisters,

21 If you make a vow to the Lord your God, do not be slow to pay it, for the Lord your God will certainly demand it of you and you will be guilty of sin. 22 But if you refrain from making a vow, you will not be guilty. 23 Whatever your lips utter you must be sure to do, because you made your vow freely to the Lord your God with your own mouth. (Deuteronomy 23)

The warning concerning the making of a vow reminds us that our words matter. The Lord Jesus went a step further when he told his disciples, "But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken." (Matthew 12:36) If we want our words to be powerful, it is important that we restrain ourselves from telling too many jokes, innocent ones or not.

Please read Deuteronomy 23 - 25. And Listen.

May the Lord richly bless you!
