11 Serve the Lord with fear

Job 25 - 27

Brothers and Sisters,

How then can a mortal be righteous before God?
    How can one born of woman be pure?
If even the moon is not bright
    and the stars are not pure in his eyes,
how much less a mortal, who is but a maggot—
    a human being, who is only a worm!” (Job 25)

This is a paradox, a human being can be considered to be a worm and an offspring of God. "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God" (Matthew 5;9).

Job 17- 19

Brothers and Sisters,

“Oh, that my words were recorded, that they were written on a scroll,
24 that they were inscribed with an iron tool on lead, or engraved in rock forever!
25 I know that my redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand on the earth.
26 And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God;
27 I myself will see him with my own eyes—I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me! (John 19)

We have lost so many good brothers and sisters in this pandemic. But we are comforted in the knowledge that Jesus, our redeemer lives, and he is coming soon. And after our skin has been destroyed, there will be a resurrection of the dead, and yet in our flesh we will see God. We will see Jesus face to face. Oh, what a blessed hope!

Brothers and Sisters,

Job wanted an advocate with the Father. The advocate with the Father is Jesus Christ.

19 Even now my witness is in heaven;
    my advocate is on high.
20 My intercessor is my friend
    as my eyes pour out tears to God;
21 on behalf of a man he pleads with God
    as one pleads for a friend. (Job 16)

My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.(1 John 2:1)
